Frequently Asked Questions

Why does the Maddie Rose Foundation exist?

The Maddie Rose Foundation exists to support young people into sustainable careers within the UK building materials sector, while strengthening the long‑term future of the industry. We focus on removing barriers, funding opportunity and creating clear pathways into employment and progression.

How does my donation make a difference?

Your donation helps fund bursaries, training, mentoring and practical support that enable young people to access education, develop skills and build confidence. It also supports employer engagement and career‑pathway development across the sector.

Every contribution directly supports young people and helps build a skilled, future‑ready workforce.

Who does the Foundation support?

We primarily support young people under 40 who are interested in careers within:

  • Building materials manufacturing
  • Merchanting and supply
  • The wider construction and built environment sectors

Support is focused on those who face financial, practical or awareness barriers to progression.

How are funds used?

Funds are used to deliver practical, measurable support, including:

  • Training and qualification costs
  • Employability and confidence‑building programmes
  • Mentoring and employer engagement
  • Practical access costs such as travel or equipment

A small proportion supports essential charity running costs to ensure effective and transparent delivery.

Can businesses get involved?

Yes. Businesses can support the Foundation through:

  • Corporate donations or sponsorship
  • Workplace fundraising
  • Commercial partnerships
  • Mentoring or work‑experience opportunities

All partnerships are underpinned by clear agreements to ensure transparency and shared impact.

Is the charity regulated?

Yes. The Maddie Rose Foundation operates under Charities Act guidance and is governed by a Board of Trustees who oversee strategy, compliance and impact.

How do I fundraise for the Foundation?

You can fundraise through challenge events, workplace initiatives, auctions or sponsored activities. We provide guidance and support to help ensure fundraising is compliant and effective.

Who can apply for support?

Support is available to young people interested in careers within the building materials sector and related industries. Eligibility criteria vary depending on the programme or bursary, but we focus on helping those who face barriers to access or progression.

What type of support is available?

Depending on need and availability, support may include:

  • Financial support for training or qualifications
  • Mentoring and employability support
  • Work‑experience opportunities
  • Career insight and confidence‑building

Do I need experience in the industry?

No. Many of the young people we support are at an early stage, exploring options or needing help taking their first step. We work to build awareness, confidence and access.

How do I apply or find out more?

Application details and available opportunities are shared on our website and through partner organisations. You can also contact us directly for guidance or information.

Will my information be kept confidential?

Yes. We take data protection seriously and handle all personal information in line with GDPR requirements.

Do we need a formal agreement to fundraise as a business?

Yes. If your business is raising funds for the Maddie Rose Foundation through the sale of goods or services, or using our name or logo in marketing, charity law requires a written Commercial Participation Agreement to be in place before activity begins.

Why is a Commercial Participation Agreement necessary?

The agreement ensures that fundraising activity is:

  • Legally compliant
  • Transparent to customers
  • Clear about how much money will go to the charity
  • Responsible and ethical

It protects your business, the charity and the people you’re fundraising from.

Does this apply to small scale fundraising?

Yes. Any commercial activity that promotes the sale of goods or services in connection with the charity requires an agreement, regardless of scale. We aim to keep agreements proportionate and straightforward.

Can we use the Maddie Rose Foundation name or logo?

Yes, but only where this has been agreed in writing as part of the Commercial Participation Agreement, and where marketing materials have been approved. This ensures the charity’s name and reputation are used correctly.

How much of the money raised must go to the charity?

This will be clearly agreed and recorded in the agreement and must be clearly communicated to the public as part of any fundraising promotion

How long does it take to put an agreement in place?

We encourage early conversations. In most cases, agreements can be finalised quickly once details of the activity are confirmed.

Who do we contact to start a partnership?

Please contact us before launching any commercial fundraising activity so we can guide you through the process and ensure everything is compliant from the outset.
